INSPIRING MOTHER SERIES
In this collaboration with our friends at sister katie, we chatted with some of the women who inspire us. Each shares their experience becoming a mother, practitioners they relied on and products they can't live without. All in sister katie's new mom + babe sets.
Hannah Shargal is mom to 3 boys - Lev, Miki, and Abie, & is the founder of EEMA studio - a design and nesting studio that helps parents with everything from decorating nurseries, creating thoughtful baby registries, and even curating hospital/birth bags. In this q+a (which she answered right at the end of her third pregnancy) she shares her tips on life with three - hint: it involves letting go of expectations, the urge to control, and s l o w i n g d o w n.
Stephanie Liu Hjelmeseth, creative and mother to Jacob, shares her nurturing postpartum experience rooted in her Chinese heritage, the importance of family, her struggle with identity after Jacob was born, and the universal resilience we all carry as mothers. She also shares her self care routine and how she approaches the work/life balance. Her q+a reinforces how essential it is to connect with other mothers and have these open and real conversations.
Model + creative director Elaina Bellis, mama to angel Lincoln and twin girls Quincy and Rowe, shares the joys of being a mom of twins who are best buds, how integral the care from her labor and postpartum doulas was for the preparation, birth and early days postpartum, and her must-haves items to wear in pregnancy and post-birth.
founder of Sister Katie, mom to baby intern Wren and babe on the way (due late spring!) gets real with us about launching a business during pregnancy and early postpartum, practitioners she relied on, and the differences between her pregnancy with Wren and this time around. She also shares her experience with anxiety and panic attacks and how she got through a particularly difficult postpartum period.
Alex, model and mom to Oscar, opens up about her experience becoming a mom, the team she built through her pregnancy and postpartum, favorite products, how she takes care of herself, as well as the unexpected medical course and journey she’s been on with her son, Oscar. Her strength and resilience, experience of grief and joy (sometimes all together at once), as well as her steadfast hope, inspires us and reminds us to ‘delight in the smallest moments of light.’
Andrea, founder of Field Guide LA and mom of three, shares her experience through each of her three pregnancies (what was helpful, what was not), how she supported herself postpartum, the things that she’s gotten into and has been grateful for during quarantine, and just has damn good advice for moms and parents in general.

Michele Macy inspires us. In her past life, she was a birth + postpartum doula. She’s also a mother, herbalist and the founder + creator of Milk Moon Herbs — a postpartum wellness company based in Northern California.
She created the Milk Moon products for herself after her third baby — as she was struggling with postpartum anxiety and depression, lack of sleep, and wanted to support herself more naturally.
We’re so in love with all of her tinctures, but especially the Restorative Tonic. It has all the incredible blood building + calming herbs, mixed with some adaptogens like ashwagandha — and provides wonderful everyday support even in the months and year(s) after giving birth. We love this as a part of our everyday routines.
